On January 11, 2010, Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi, who is currently in Algeria on a two-day visit, at request held a telephone conversation with British Foreign Secretary David Miliband. Both sides agreed to make joint efforts to promote healthy and stable development of the two countries' relations and boost cooperation on the basis of mutual respect, equality and mutual benefit.

The two top diplomats also exchanged views over Afghanistan, the Iranian nuclear and other issues.
