The Chinese Embassy in Spain Sets up Emergency Team in the Wake of Blasts in Madrid, Spain's Capital

On the morning of March 11, 2004, a series of blasts rocked three railway stations successively in Madrid, Spain, causing over 80 deaths and around 100 injuries. The Chinese embassy in Spain is keeping a close eye on developments related to the bombings. To ensure safety of people in China-invested businesses and institutions, Chinese students and other Chinese people staying there, the embassy has established an emergency team immediately after the bombings, which is headed by Ambassador Qiu Xiaoqi. The embassy is trying its best to get contact with relevant departments of the Spanish government to get information on whether people in China-invested businesses and institutions, Chinese students and other Chinese people staying there are among those killed or injured. The embassy warns that people should keep vigilance and tighten security.
