Assistant Foreign Minister Zhang Kunsheng Meets with Joint Press Delegation from Latin American Countries

On July 4, 2011, Assistant Foreign Minister Zhang Kunsheng met with a joint press delegation from Latin American countries. Zhang took questions from journalists on China-Latin America relations, China's development as well as relevant international and regional issues.

Zhang said in recent years, China-Latin America relations have maintained a sound momentum of comprehensive and rapid development. Both sides have deepened political trust, increased pragmatic cooperation and exchanges on economy, trade, science, technology and humanities and kept sound communication in international affairs. China attaches great importance to developing ties with Latin America and is committed to establishing and developing comprehensive partnership of equality, mutual benefit and common development with Latin American countries.

Zhang pointed out that the press and media are playing an important role in advancing China-Latin America friendly cooperation and deepening mutual understanding and friendship between both peoples. He expressed hope that the press delegation will make full use of this visit and have comprehensive and objective coverage on China so as to play a positive role in pushing forward China-Latin America friendly cooperation.

The joint press delegation is composed of 19 journalists from 16 Latin American countries including Brazil, Mexico, Argentina, Chile and Cuba.
