On July 5, 2011, Director-General Le Yucheng of the Policy Planning Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China held consultations on foreign policy with Koji Tsuruoka, Director-General of Foreign Policy Bureau of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan. Both sides exchanged views on the current international situation and other issues of common concern.
