State Councilor Dai Bingguo Has a Meeting with U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton in Shenzhen

On July 25, 2011, Chinese State Councilor Dai Bingguo held an informal meeting with U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton in Shenzhen, Guangdong. The two sides had an in-depth exchange of views on bilateral relations and issues of mutual interest.

The two sides agreed to stay committed to building the China-U.S. partnership based upon mutual respect, mutual benefit and win-win result and make concerted efforts to expand bilateral cooperation in different areas, respect each other's vital interests and concerns, properly handle differences, and enhance strategic mutual trust. Dai reiterated China's solemn position on issues related to Taiwan and Tibet. The two sides agreed to jointly safeguard and promote the hard-won peace, stability and development in the Asia-Pacific region and exchanged views on the Korean Peninsula issue. The two sides agreed that the meeting was fruitful and decided to continue to maintain close, engagement and communication in flexible and diverse forms so as to exchange views on China-U.S. relations and issues of common interest at any time.

Chinese Ambassador to the United States Zhang Yesui, Vice Foreign Minister Cui Tiankai, Deputy Director of the CPC Central Foreign Affairs Office Qiu Yuanping, and other leaders were present at the meeting.
