Dai Bingguo Attends ACB Dinner
On March 10, 2012, State Councilor Dai Bingguo attended the dinner hosted by Chairman of the ASEAN Committee in Beijing (ACB) and Indonesian Ambassador to China Imron Cotan on behalf of the ACB. Vice Foreign Minister Fu Ying, Director-General of the Department of Asian Affairs of the Foreign Ministry Luo Zhaohui, Chinese Ambassador to ASEAN Tong Xiaoling as well as the diplomats of ASEAN countries to China attended the dinner.
Addressing the event, Dai said that the world today is going through profound changes and developing countries rise rapidly. In particular, Asian countries grow vigorously with significant rise of influence and status. To maintain peace, stability and development of Asia benefits not only the Chinese people but also people in Asia and around the world. He stressed that it is an unswerving strategic policy of the Chinese government to comprehensively and deeply develop the good-neighborly friendship and mutually beneficial cooperation with ASEAN. China will grow the strategic partnership, conduct pragmatic cooperation and carry out cultural exchanges with ASEAN at higher levels.
Imron Cotan made a speech on behalf of the ACB and extended sincere gratitude to Dai for his long-term commitment to promoting the development of ASEAN-China relations. He spoke highly of the sound momentum of ASEAN-China relations and noted that the bilateral good-neighborly friendship and mutually beneficial cooperation have been deepened since ASEAN and China built dialogue relations more than 20 years ago and contributed tremendously to the regional peace, stability and prosperity.
Dai also introduced the NPC and CPPCC sessions and China's economic and social development. The ASEAN diplomats spoke highly of China's development achievements and said that ASEAN countries expect China to maintain rapid economic growth which has great significance to the stability and development of ASEAN countries and the region.
