Li Keqiang Meets with Representatives of Russian Business Community

On April 28, 2012, Vice Premier Li Keqiang met with the representatives of Russian business community in the International Trade Center of Moscow. Russia's First Deputy Prime Minister Igor Shuvalov was present at the meeting.

Li said he is very glad to meet with people from the Russian business community. China and Russia are the largest friendly neighbor of each other. Both countries are important emerging economies and faced with the arduous task of development and rejuvenation. We are both located in the Asia-Pacific region and the Eurasian continent. Geographical proximity, economic complementarities and political mutual trust create the huge potential and promising future for the bilateral business cooperation. Business, just like sports, is a sector filled with fierce competition and requires the belief and spirit of being faster, higher and stronger. All the participants today are leaders of the Russian business community. Their enterprises form the key pillar of the Russian economy and have conducted various forms of cooperation with Chinese enterprises and accumulated important experience. They are expected to further carry out competition and cooperation in the process of business and investment exchanges with China and achieve more fruitful results.

Shuvalov noted that Russia and China enjoy sound development and huge potential of business cooperation. Russia will continue to improve the investment environment and constantly expand the cooperation areas together with China.

The Russian side introduced their cooperation with China. They said that the Chinese market is very attractive and Russia-China business cooperation embraces great development opportunities. The Russian business community is passionate and looks forward to deepening cooperation with China in the fields of trade, investment, innovation, energy and finance.

President of Skolkovo Foundation Viktor Vekselberg said they have noticed in the process of cooperation that Chinese enterprises are transforming from "made in China" to "created in China". The Foundation will play an active role in the process of such transformation. President of the Russian Direct Investment Fund Kirill Dmitriev noted that the Fund will step up cooperation with China Investment Corporation to provide financial support for the bilateral pragmatic cooperation. CEO of Basic Element and UC RUSAL Oleg Deripaska said that his company will strengthen cooperation with Chinese partners in the upstream and downstream of resource products and explore the Russian and Chinese markets together.

Also present at the meeting were president of the VEB, president of the VTB, general manager of the Siberian Coal Energy Company, president of OAK and chairman of SystemGroup Russia. These enterprises all hold key positions in the Russian economy.
