On May 4, 2012, the Voice of Harmony concert was held in Beijing Poly Theater to celebrate the Year of Good-neighborly Friendship of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and the 20th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Central Asian countries. Vice Foreign Minister Cheng Guoping attended the concert and made a speech.

He said that countries in this region have a long history of friendly exchanges and the relationship between China and Central Asian countries always maintains the good momentum of rapid and healthy development. Since the establishment of the SCO, it has become a shining example of living in peace with neighboring countries and exchanges and convergence of different civilizations. China is ready to work with countries to make unremitting efforts to deepen the bilateral and multilateral friendly cooperation and write a new chapter of building a harmonious region with lasting peace and common prosperity.

Also present at the concert were former Vice Chairman of the National People's Congress Standing Committee Peng Peiyun, Chairman of China Foundation for International Studies Zhang Deguang, ambassadors of Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Pakistan to China and Secretary-General of the SCO Muratbek Imanaliev.
