On 22 March, at the request of Mr. Faroug Kadumi, Foreign Minister of the State of Palestine and Director of the Political Department of the Palestinian Liberation Organization, Foreign Minister Tang Jiaxuan had a phone conversation with him. Mr. Kadumi informed Foreign Minister Tang of the preparation of the Arab summit to be convened soon and the latest developments of the conflict between Palestine and Israel.

Foreign Minister Tang thanked Mr. Kadumi for his briefing and expressed the congratulation from the Chinese side on the Arab summit to be convened soon and its sincere hope that the summit will play an important role in further promoting solidarity and cooperation among Arab countries as well as peace and stability in the region. At present, the conflict between Palestine and Israel still continues, which not only hinders the Middle East peace process but also undermines peace and stability in the whole region. China supports the Middle East peace process and has always maintained that the relevant UN resolutions on the Middle East issue and the principle of "land for peace" are the basis of peace talks and the conscientious implementation of the agreements already reached are the prerequisite for building trust between Palestine and Israel. The international community has the responsibility and obligation to take further measures to push for the Middle East peace process to yield substantive results.

On bilateral relations, Foreign Minister Tang stressed that the Chinese Government and people will continue to abide by the set policy determined by the three generations of Chinese leaders, support the struggle of the Palestinian people for their just ethnic rights and constantly push forward the friendly relations and cooperation between China and Palestine.

Mr. Kadumi expressed his appreciation and thanks to the Chinese Government and leaders for their support and help to the people of Palestine over the years.
