On March 25, Foreign Minister Tang Jiaxuan met with Mohamed El Yazghi, special envoy of King Mohammed VI and Minister of Territorial Management, Urbanism, Housing and Environment of Morocco.

Yazghi delivered to Tang the king's letter to Chinese President Jiang Zemin on the issue of Western Sahara, and informed Tang of the latest developments of the issue. He stressed that Morocco is willing to settle the issue through political channels.

Tang reiterated China's consistent stance on the Western Sahara issue, and expressed hope that parties concerned will stick to the principle of dialogue and consultations and seek a proper solution of the problem.
