Wang Yi Meets with Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian of France

On July 7, 2017 local time, Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian of France in Hamburg, Germany.

Wang Yi said that President Xi Jinping and President Emmanuel Macron have engaged in positive interactions at the first time after the new French government was formed, laying a sound foundation for the starting and opening of China-France relations in the new period. Under the current international situation, a stable development of bilateral relations carries great significance. China is willing to, together with France, implement consensus of the two heads of state, well prepare for the upcoming bilateral high-level exchanges and exchanges in the next stage, promote bilateral practical cooperation, enhance communication and cooperation in international affairs, jointly support multilateralism and process of economic globalization, and boost global governance reform. The two sides will make joint efforts to make the G20 Summit a success.

Jean-Yves Le Drian said that the new French government will continuously promote the development of relations between the two countries. Both sides will, according to consensus of the two heads of state, boost exchanges at all levels and practical cooperation in various fields, and enhance communication and cooperation in international affairs.

The two sides also exchanged views on international and regional hotspot issues including the Korean Peninsula issue, the Syrian issue and the situation in Afghanistan.
