Ambassador Huang Huikang Make Donation on Behalf of the Red Cross Society of China To Malaysia for Disaster Relief

On December 27th, Dr. Huang Huikang, Ambassador of P. R. China to Malaysia made a donation of 100,000 USD on behalf of the Red Cross Society to the Malaysian Red Crescent Society, in an effort to help the afflicted people of Malaysia's flood-ravaged Eastern Coast.

The donation ceremony was held at the headquarter of Malaysian Red Crescent Society, attended by MRCR's national chairman YM Tunku Tan Sri Shariman Tunku Sulaiman, Deputy Chairman Datuk Dr. Hj. Bahari bin Datuk Abu Mansor, Secretary General YBhg Datuk Dr. Hj. Noordin bin Hj. Abdul Razak, and media representatives.

Ambassador Huang expressed sympathy for the flood affected people and displaced families and hope China Red Cross's donation would help relief the disaster. "I hope they would be able to return home and rebuild homeland soon." said the ambassador. He recall Malaysia was among the first to act and Malaysian people donate the most for China's Wenchuan Earthquake (2008), "Now Chinese people stands firmly by Malaysian's side to provide help and assistance. We share friendship through hardship". He also promised that the Chinese government and people would follow the situation closely and ready for further assistance when needed.

On behalf of the Malaysian Red Crescent Society, YM Tunku Tan Sri Shariman received the check and thanked the Red Cross Society and Chinese side for kind help and aid. He is sure this would help build Malaysia's resilience to the disaster.

On the same day, China's Foreign Minister Wang Yi sent a letter to Malaysian Foreign Minister Dato' Sri Anifah Hj, expressing sympathy for the victims and poverty lost caused by the severe flood.
