On 10 January 2017, the Chinese Ambassador Qu Zhe paid a courtesy call on the Estonian Minister of Economic Affairs and Infrastructure Mrs. Kadri Simson.
The Ambassador congratulated Mrs. Simson on her new position as the Minister of Economic Affairs and Infrastructure. He said the relations between China and Estonia has kept good momentum over the years. With joint efforts of both sides, tangible results were made in many fields including bilateral trade and investment. People-to-people exchanges had become more frequent than ever before. The cooperation within the framework of China and Central and Eastern European Countries (or 16+1 Cooperation) was successful and mutually beneficial. He hoped that the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Communications will continue to play a positive role in promoting trade and investment between the two countries.
Minister Simson agreed with the Ambassador on the observation on bilateral relations. She was satisfied with the development made so far between the two countries and optimistic on the perspective of the bilateral cooperation. The Minister hoped that companies from both countries could further tap their potentials and renew their efforts in expanding their cooperation in many fields.
The Minister and Ambassador also exchanged views on bilateral cooperation on trade, investment, tourism, e-commerce and other topics.
