Chinese Cultural Performance Celebrating the 53rd Anniversary of China-Zambia Diplomatic Relations Successfully Held

On November 1, the Chinese cultural performance celebrating the 53rd anniversary of China-Zambia diplomatic relations, which was organized by the Chinese Embassy in Zambia in collaboration with the Zambia Chinese Association was formally held in Lusaka, Zambia. Hon. Charles Banda, Minister of Tourism and Arts, H.E. Mr. Yang Youming, Chinese Ambassador to Zambia and his wife Mme. Geng Hailing, Members of Parliament, diplomatic envoys accredited to Zambia, and representatives from the Chinese community and institutions in Zambia, around one thousand people were present at the event.

Ambassador Yang gives his remarks

In his speech, Ambassador Yang said that on October 29, 1964, China and Zambia established diplomatic relationship, and Zambia became the first country to do so with China in Southern Africa. The past 53 years has witnessed the continuous consolidation of the relations and expansion of cooperation. Ambassador Yang said that the exchange of high-level visits between the two countries has become more frequent and bilateral economic and trade cooperation continues to expand, and the people-to-people exchange also plays an irreplaceable role in promoting the bilateral relations. An increasing number of cultural groups have exchanged visits and a series of activities in cooperation and exchanges in areas of artistic performance, visual art and relic protection have taken place between the two countries. Both China and Zambia attach great importance to the cooperation on human resources training in the field of culture and arts. This time the Yunnan Culture and Arts Troupe's visit and excellent performance will allow the Zambian people to enjoy the charm of Chinese culture, deepen understanding of China and Chinese culture, bring our two peoples closer together, and further enhance the China-Zambia friendship.

Ambassador Yang stressed that China and Zambia always remain close friends, brothers and good partners. China and Zambia will take the 53rd anniversary of China-Zambia diplomatic relations as a new historical starting point, work together and write a new chapter in the China-Zambia relationship and bring more benefits to the peoples of our two countries.

Hon. Banda gives his remarks

Hon. Banda, Minister of Tourism and Arts expressed that the Zambian government cherishes the good relations between China and Zambia and appreciates the efforts and contribution made by the Chinese government and the Chinese Embassy in Zambia in promoting friendly cooperation in various fields, especially in the cultural exchanges and cooperation. He said the Zambian side wishes to further strengthen cooperation with the Chinese side and continue to deepen the friendly cooperative relations with China. The cultural sector is one of the priorities of the Zambian government in the implementation of its 7th National Development Plan. In recent years, with the assistance of the Chinese government, the cultural exchange between Zambia and China has borne fruitful achievements. It now plays a very important role in promoting the development of Zambia's cultural sector and strengthening the China-Zambia friendship. He is hopeful that Zambia and China would continue to strengthen the cultural exchange and cooperation to support the development of Zambia's cultural and creative sector.

Wonderful performances by Yunnan Culture and Arts Troupe

The artistes from the Yunnan Culture and Arts Troupe performed traditional Chinese musical instruments, songs and dances combined with acrobatic performance, and Zambian local songs. The show created a jubilant and warm atmosphere.
