Ambassador Yue Meets with President of UCC

On Saturday, May 12th, H.E. Dr. Yue Xiaoyong, Chinese Ambassador to Ireland, met with Prof. Patrick O'Shea, President of University College Cork (UCC). Also present at the meeting were Prof. John O'Halloran, Deputy President and Registrar of UCC, Ms. Marian McCarthy, Vice President for Teaching and Learning, and Ms. Xv Xiaohong, Director of the UCC Confucius Institute.

Expressing appreciation for the accomplishments in the development of the UCC Confucius Institute and the Chinese language teaching and learning in UCC and in the west of Ireland, both the Ambassador and the UCC President reaffirmed their commitment to jointly support the work of the UCC Confucius Institute in making Chinese language and culture learning more easily accessible to the students in Ireland.

They also exchanged views on what could be done to further enhance the exchanges and cooperation between UCC and Chinese universities.
