Assistant Foreign Minister Kong Xuanyou Visits Mongolia

From August 9 to 11, 2017, Assistant Foreign Minister Kong Xuanyou visited Mongolia. During the visit, Kong Xuanyou met respectively with Prime Minister Jargaltulga Erdenebat, Minister of Foreign Affairs Tsend Munkh-Orgil, Chief of Staff of the President Zandaakhuu Enkhbold of Mongolia and other personages and held the 3rd strategic dialogue with State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Davaasuren Damdinsuren of Mongolia between the Chinese and Mongolian Foreign Ministries. Both sides exchanged in-depth views on bilateral relations and other relevant issues.

Expounding China's policy and stance toward Mongolia, Kong Xuanyou expressed that China attaches importance to China-Mongolia relations, and both countries should well implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of both countries, enhance mutual trust, respect each other's core interests and major concerns, strengthen the docking of development strategies, and push forward practical cooperation and people-to-people and cultural exchanges, so as to ensure China-Mongolia relations to move on a path of healthy and stable development. Kong Xuanyou also expressed strong concern to Mongolia over the recent erroneous statements and actions regarding the Xizang-related issue in the country, elaborated on China's solemn stand and asked the Mongolian side to abide by its commitments and properly handle this sensitive issue, in a bid to safeguard the political basis of China-Mongolia relations.

The Mongolian side noted that developing the relationship with China has always been the primary policy of Mongolia's foreign policy. Mongolia will commit to reinforcing bilateral political mutual trust, adhering to the one-China policy and continuing to properly handle the Xizang-related issue and other sensitive issues in accordance with the consensus of both sides. China's free grants and concessional loans for Mongolia have played an important role in Mongolia's economic and social development, and Mongolia is willing to make joint efforts with China to promote Mongolia-China relations for new progress.
