Vice Foreign Minister Wang Chao Visits Norway

2017/08/29

From August 27 to 29, 2017, Vice Foreign Minister Wang Chao visited Norway, during which he met with Foreign Minister Borge Brende of Norway and held the 14th China-Norway Political Consultation at Vice-foreign Ministerial Level with Secretary General of the Foreign Ministry Wegger Strømmen of Norway.

Wang Chao expressed that since the normalization of China-Norway relations last December, bilateral relations have enjoyed sound development momentum. It is hoped that Norway could continue to strictly abide by its commitments, respect and practically take care of China's core interests and major concerns, make joint efforts with China to promote bilateral political mutual trust, and grasp the overall situation of bilateral relations, in a bid to push forward China-Norway relations for new progress.

The Norwegian side expressed that the country highly values China's core interests and major concerns. No matter how the political situation in Norway changes, the country will continuously abide by its commitments and implement them with specific policies, so as to maintain the sound situation of bilateral relations.

Both sides conducted comprehensive and in-depth communication on bilateral exchanges and practical cooperation in politics, economy, trade, people-to-people and cultural engagement and other fields, reaching extensive consensus. Wang Chao deeply expounded China's principle and stance on human rights issues.

Both sides also exchanged views on international and regional issues of common concern.
