On February 20, 2015, Indian leaders went to a disputed area in the eastern part of the China-Indian boundary for activities. In the evening of February 20, Chinese Embassy in India immediately made representations to the Indian side. On February 21, Vice Foreign Minister Liu Zhenmin made an appointment to meet with Indian Ambassador to China Ashok Kumar Kantha and made solemn representations to the Indian side.

Liu Zhenmin pointed out that the position of the Chinese side on the China-India boundary issue is consistent and clear. There exist huge disputes over the eastern part of China-India boundary, which is a well-known and unavoidable fact. The Chinese government has never recognized the so-called "Arunachal Pradesh" unilaterally established by India. The Indian side's insistence on arranging its leaders to the disputed area for activities has undermined territorial sovereignty, rights and interests of the Chinese side, artificially amplified differences between both countries on the boundary issue and gone against principles and consensus reached by both sides on properly addressing the boundary issue, on which the Chinese side expresses strong dissatisfaction and determined opposition.

Liu Zhenmin emphasized that the Chinese side attaches importance to developing China-India relations. As neighbors and the two largest developing countries, the cooperation between both countries at all levels enjoys a broad prospect. He expressed the hope that India cherishes the sound development momentum of bilateral relations, meets the Chinese side halfway, abides by the important consensus reached by both sides on the boundary issue, refrains from actions that complicate the boundary issue and adheres to the general orientation of resolving the boundary issue through bilateral negotiations so as to safeguard the overall development of bilateral relations.
