Assistant Foreign Minister Li Hui Meets with Chairman of CIS Executive Committee Rushaylo

On April 12, Assistant Foreign Minister Li Hui met in Beijing with Chairman of CIS Executive Committee Rushaylo who was paying a visit to Beijing at the invitation of the Secretariat of Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO). Both sides exchanged opinions on the situation of CIS and the cooperation between SCO and CIS.

Li said that CIS is an important organization in the Eurasian region. China wishes to see an active role of CIS in the regional affairs and the due contributions of the organization to regional security, stability and development. China attaches great importance to developing the friendly and mutually beneficial cooperation with CIS countries.

He pointed out that it is necessary and important for SCO and CIS to conduct cooperation. The two organizations have unique advantages and conditions for cooperation and could complement each other and jointly promote regional peace, stability and development. As a member state of the SCO, China always actively supports the establishment of relations and cooperation between the two organizations.

Rushaylo introduced the work of CIS and the regional situation and briefed the signing of the MOU between the CIS Executive Committee and the SCO Secretariat, stressing that both CIS and SCO should play a more active role in maintaining regional stability and CIS is willing to conduct in-depth cooperation with SCO in the economic and security fields.
