Introduction of the Second Committee

As one of the six principal committees of the UN General Assembly, the Second Committee is responsible for reviewing the economic and financial items of agenda of the General Assembly, mainly including those relating to macro-economic policy ( debt and fund-raising for development), sustainable development and international economic cooperation (trade, human settlements, poverty eradication), environment and development. Its session is normally held from the beginning of October to the first half of December.

China's Relations with the Second Committee

China is actively engaged in the review of all items of the Second Committee, and many resolutions have been put forward by China together with the Group of 77 and adopted by the Committee. The head of the Chinese delegation to the General Assembly attends and speaks at the general debate of each session.
