Q: What is your expectation of the upcoming Millenium Summit of the United Nations?


A: Mankind is on the thresholds of a brand-new millenium while the world is entering a new epoch. Where the world is heading for, how international relations should develop and how the United Nations can play an even greater role are all questions of universal concern. It is very important for the world leaders to gather together and exchange views on such major issues of strategic importance during the forthcoming Millenium Summit. The timing is also great. It is our hope that the world leaders can reach consensus on intensifying the important role of the United Nations in international affairs so as to make concerted efforts in advancing the cause of peace and development of mankind.
