On December 22, 2014, Vice Foreign Minister Zhang Ming at invitation attended and addressed the reception marking the 3rd anniversary of the founding of the China-ASEAN Center.

Zhang Ming expressed that China-ASEAN dialogue relations have been progressing for 23 years and that both sides celebrated the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the strategic partnership last year. For years, China, upholding the concepts of good neighborliness and mutual trust, solidarity and mutual support, and cooperation and development, has been strengthening and deepening China-ASEAN relations, bringing tangible benefits to both peoples. Last year, Chinese leaders proposed the strategic goal of building a closer community of shared destiny between China and the ASEAN, and jointly constructing the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road. The development of China-ASEAN relations enjoys broad prospects and a bright future.

Zhang Ming expressed that the ASEAN community would be built next year. This will be the first sub-regional community in Asian history, which will represent a milestone and have a new positive impact on the development of China-ASEAN relations. The China-ASEAN Center, the only established inter-governmental international organization between China and the ASEAN countries, has actively promoted exchanges and cooperation in various fields between both sides over the past three years, making important contributions to the development of China-ASEAN relations. We hope to see the China-ASEAN Center play a unique role in promoting bilateral good-neighborliness, mutual trust and practical cooperation and sowing the seeds of friendship between both sides.

The reception proceeded in a warm and friendly atmosphere. Resident representative of Myanmar to the ASEAN Achim Munz, Secretary-General of the China-ASEAN Center Ma Mingqiang, and about 400 representatives from various sectors attended the reception.
