Convention on Certain Conventional Weapons

China has always attached great importance to and supported the process of the Convention on Certain Conventional Weapons(CCW), and earnestly fulfilled the obligations under the Convention and its protocols. China has also actively participated in the work of the Group of Governmental Experts (GGE) of the CCW.

The Protocol on Explosive Remnants of War (ERW) is conducive to mitigating humanitarian concerns caused by ERW. The Standing Committee of China's National People's Congress ratified the Protocol in April, 2010. Ambassador Li Baodong, Permanent Representative of China to the United Nations, presented the Ratification Letter to H.E. Mr. Ban Ki-Moon, Secretary General of the United Nations in June 2010, and the Protocol has entered into force to China in December 2010. China has formally become the high contracting party of the Protocol.

China supports the efforts of the international community to seek a solution to problems related to cluster munitions, and has all along participated in relevant work in the framework of CCW in a positive and constructive manner. China will continue to work with all parties to make contributions to solving properly the problem of cluster munitions.
