China and the Republic of Korea (ROK) Hold the 21st Round of Consular Consultation

On October 18, 2019, Director-General of Department of Consular Affairs of the Foreign Ministry Cui Aimin and Byun Cheol-hwan, Director-General for Overseas Koreans and Consular Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea (ROK), held the 21st round of consular consultation in Seoul. Both sides exchanged views in a friendly and in-depth manner on such issues as strengthening consular cooperation, facilitating personnel exchanges and safeguarding the safety and rights of citizens, reaching positive consensus. Both sides agreed to, against the backdrop of the continuous development of China-ROK relations and increasingly frequent personnel exchanges between the two countries, further deepen cooperation in consular affairs, comprehensively facilitate personnel exchanges, and better safeguard citizens' safety and legitimate rights and interests, so as to inject more positive factors into the development of bilateral relations and create more favorable conditions for friendly exchanges between the two peoples.

Prior to the consultation, Lee Sang-jin, Deputy-Minister for Overseas Koreans and Consular Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, met with Director-General Cui Aimin and his delegation.
