Director-General of the Department of Consular Affairs of the Foreign Ministry Wu Xi Attends the "No. 7A Salon -- A Special Briefing on China's Consular Work"

On June 21, 2023, Director-General of the Department of Consular Affairs of the Foreign Ministry Wu Xi attended the "No. 7A Salon" briefing at Beijing International Club, and had exchanges and discussions with Chinese and foreign journalists on the development and practice of China's consular work.

Wu Xi briefed on China’s vivid practice in  developing consular relations and promoting personnel exchanges with other countries, improving consular services, and protecting the safety of Chinese nationals overseas since the founding of the New China, particularly since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC). Wu Xi emphasized that in conducting the consular work, China has held high the great banner of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, followed the "people-centered" development philosophy, and resolutely implemented the important decisions made at the 20th National Congress of the CPC. China will continue to make great efforts to facilitate personnel exchanges with other countries, protect the safety of Chinese nationals overseas, and actively promote the building of a community with a shared future for mankind. Wu Xi took questions from the journalists on China’s evacuation of its nationals and its assistance in evacuating nationals of other countries from Sudan, and on current issues concerning foreign nationals’ application for China’s visas.

Vice President of China Public Diplomacy Association Luo Linquan chaired the event.
