Director-General of the Department of Consular Affairs of the Foreign Ministry Guo Shaochun Meets with Overseas Chinese Attending Fifth Session of Twelfth CPPCC National Committee as Nonvoting Delegates

On March 10, 2017, Director-General of the Department of Consular Affairs of the Foreign Ministry Guo Shaochun met at Diaoyutai State Guesthouse with the overseas Chinese attending the fifth session of the twelfth National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) as nonvoting delegates.

Director-General Guo Shaochun introduced the situation on China's diplomatic and consular work in his speech, and thanked for the overseas Chinese's contributions over the years to the modernization and the great cause of peaceful reunification of China as well as the promotion of friendship between China and foreign countries. He noted that the Foreign Ministry and the embassies and consulates stationed abroad will continue to build overseas livelihood projects in an in-depth way, further improve the consular protection mechanism and capacity building, spare no efforts to safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of overseas Chinese citizens and organizations, promote the survival and development of the overseas Chinese in their residence countries, and provide a safer and more reliable guarantee for all overseas Chinese. The attending overseas Chinese spoke highly of China's development achievements, and expressed that they will continuously contribute to China's development and construction as well as exchanges and cooperation between China and foreign countries.
