On May 23, 2013, Vice Foreign Minister Cheng Guoping met with a delegation of ASEAN diplomats in China visiting Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. Vice Foreign Minister Cheng introduced the enormous achievements in economic and social development of Xinjiang. He hopes that the delegation members will enhance their understanding of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region and China at large through their field trip and will make contributions to further deepening China-ASEAN strategic partnership. The delegation members expressed that visiting Xinjiang will help them get a comprehensive understanding of China. They will work with the Chinese side to make positive efforts for deepening the relationship between ASEAN countries and China.
