On November 15, 2023, Special Envoy of the Chinese Government on the Middle East Issue Zhai Jun attended the opening ceremony of the 15th MEDays Forum in Tangier, Morocco. Hosted by the Amadeus Institute, an official Moroccan think-tank, the Forum this year is themed "Polycrisis, Polyworld", and will have a four-day discussion on complex challenges facing the world today and response plans. Representatives of many countries, such as Morocco, Hungary, Dominica, and Sao Tome and Principe, attended the Forum.

Zhai Jun said in his speech that the Palestine-Israel conflict has recently been under the limelight of the world again. The pressing task is that parties to the conflict must immediately cease fire, abide by international humanitarian law, and ensure the safety of civilians. Relevant parties of the international community should keep calm and exercise restraint, uphold objectivity and fairness, promote de-escalation of the conflict, and open up corridors for humanitarian assistance as soon as possible. The fundamental way out to end the circle of the Palestine-Israel conflict is to implement the two-state solution and realize peaceful coexistence between Palestine and Israel.

Zhai Jun emphasized that China is always committed to safeguarding peace and stability in the Middle East, and promoting regional prosperity and development, and will, as always, act upon the vision of a human community with a shared future, uphold the guiding principles of the Global Development Initiative, the Global Security Initiative, and the Global Civilization Initiative, and work with the Middle East countries to push for new achievements in the building of a human community with a shared future in the Middle East and make new contribution to promoting peace and development in the Middle East and the international community.
