Wen Jiabao Holds Cordial Exchanges with Teachers and Students of the University of Brunei Darussalam

On November 20, 2011, Premier of the State Council Wen Jiabao visited the University of Brunei Darussalam in Bandar Seri Begawan and held cordial talks with teachers and students there.

The University of Brunei Darussalam was immersed in a joyous and friendly atmosphere that day. When Wen entered the campus, teachers and students dressed in national costumes received him warmly. In the auditorium, Wen enjoyed the folk song and dance performed by the students.

Wen said that he was glad to visit the beautiful, prosperous and peaceful country of Brunei on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of China-Brunei diplomatic ties. Over the past 20 years, the two countries have respected and treated each other equally and the bilateral relations have grown steadily. The two sides should step up political, economic, cultural and educational exchanges and cooperation. He is full of confidence in the future of the bilateral ties. He hopes the youth of both countries learn from each other and increase exchanges to make contributions to the bilateral friendship and cooperation.

Wen answered questions of the students, presented Chinese books to the university and planted a friendship tree. Students presented their paintings to Wen.

On the same day, Wen also met with staffs of the Chinese embassy in Brunei and representatives of Chinese-funded organizations and overseas Chinese.
