China and Bangladesh Hold the 10th Round of Diplomatic Consultations

On April 12, 2016, Assistant Foreign Minister Kong Xuanyou held in Dhaka, capital of Bangladesh, the 10th round of diplomatic consultations with Foreign Secretary Md. Shahidul Haque of Bangladesh.

Assistant Foreign Minister Kong Xuanyou expressed that China and Bangladesh are long-tested good friends and neighbors. The relationship between the two countries has encountered zero problems, only friendship and cooperation. The two countries are facing the common task of development. China pays high attention to the development of China-Bangladesh relations, and stands ready to strengthen the docking of development strategies of the two countries under the framework of the Belt and Road initiative, so as to realize mutual benefits, win-win results as well as common development.

Md. Shahidul Haque said that successive governments of Bangladesh have always adhered to the friendly policy toward China, and firmly pursued the "One China" policy. Bangladesh appreciates and stands ready to actively participate in the Belt and Road initiative, promote the Bangladesh-China-India-Myanmar (BCIM) Economic Corridor, and carry out all-round and multi-field cooperation with China.

Both sides discussed exchanges and cooperation in economy and trade, infrastructure construction, electricity, agriculture, water conservancy, ocean, defense, culture and other fields between the two countries, and exchanged views on international and regional issues of common concern.

H.E. Ma Mingqiang, Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh, and representatives from over 20 departments of Bangladesh attended the consultation.
