Assistant Foreign Minister Kong Xuanyou Meets with Foreign Secretary Tehmina Janjua of Pakistan

On August 23, 2017, Assistant Foreign Minister Kong Xuanyou met with visiting Foreign Secretary Tehmina Janjua of Pakistan.

Kong Xuanyou expressed that China and Pakistan are all-weather strategic cooperative partners. Under the current background of the increasing complex factors in the neighboring environment around the two countries, both sides should further enhance policy communication and action coordination. China is willing to make joint efforts with Pakistan to continuously maintain close high-level exchanges and dialogues at all levels, solidly advance the construction of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, strengthen communication and coordination in the Afghan issue, the reform of the UN Security Council and other major international and regional affairs, and safeguard the common interests of both countries, so as to achieve common development and prosperity.

Tehmina Janjua said that as "iron friends", Pakistan and China have consistently and firmly supported each other on issues concerning respective core interests. No matter how the domestic political situation in Pakistan changes, the country will always uphold its friendly policy towards China and firmly support China's stance on issues concerning its core interests. Pakistan stands ready to, together with China, push forward the construction of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, enhance cooperation in economy, trade, defense and security, and strengthen communication and cooperation in major international and regional affairs.

Both sides also exchanged views on regional situation and issues of common concern.
