On January 31, 2024, Assistant Foreign Minister Miao Deyu held talks with visiting President of the 78th Session of the United Nations (UN) General Assembly Dennis Francis. The two sides had an in-depth exchange of views on the current international situation, cooperation between China and the United Nations, and other issues.

Miao Deyu said that as a permanent member of the UN Security Council and the largest developing country, China has always been a staunch supporter and active contributor to the cause of the United Nations. China will continue to follow the vision of building a community with a shared future for mankind proposed by President Xi Jinping, uphold true multilateralism, and comprehensively and deeply participate in the work of the United Nations. China will work to align its initiatives such as the Global Development Initiative, the Global Security Initiative, the Global Civilization Initiative and high-quality Belt and Road cooperation with the UN agenda, so as to make greater contributions to world peace and human progress.

Dennis Francis highly appreciated China's development achievements and long-term support for the work of the United Nations, saying that the United Nations cherishes its relations with China and is ready to further coordinate and cooperate with China to jointly cope with global challenges and promote sustainable development.
