China and US Hold Consultation on UN Peacekeeping Affairs

On July 8, 2014, Director-general of the Department of International Affairs of China's Foreign Ministry Li Junhua and Acting Assistant Secretary for the Bureau of International Organization Affairs Dean Pittman of the US Department of State co-chaired the fifth China-US consultation on the UN peacekeeping affairs. Officials concerned from China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of National Defense, Ministry of Public Security, US Department of State and Department of National Defense attended the meeting. Consultation on peacekeeping affairs is one of the activities held under the framework of the China-US Strategic and Economic Dialogue. Both sides exchanged in-depth views on such issues as the current situation and reforms of the UN peacekeeping operations, and bilateral cooperation in peacekeeping between China and the US. Both sides agreed that China and the US will continue deepening exchanges and cooperation in peacekeeping and work together to promote healthy and sustainable development of the UN peacekeeping operations so as to make greater contribution to international peace and security cause.
