China and Switzerland Hold 8th Human Rights Dialogue

On March 3, 2015, Special Representative for Human Rights Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Liu Hua and Special Representative for Human Rights of the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs Urs Schmid of Switzerland together chaired the 8th China-Switzerland Human Rights Dialogue in Bern, Switzerland. Personnel of the departments in charge of foreign affairs, judicature, economy, religious affairs and the like of the two countries were present.

Both sides introduced their respective new progress in promoting and protecting human rights, and exchanged views on topics such as criminal judicature and human rights, economy and human rights as well as international human rights cooperation. They hold that the dialogue was open, candid and constructive, and proceeded in a friendly atmosphere. Both sides will continue human rights dialogue on the basis of equality and mutual respect thus to enhance mutual understanding.

On the same day, State Secretary of the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs Yves Rossier of Switzerland met with the Chinese delegation. On March 4, the Chinese delegation also communicated with the Secretary General of Bern Municipal Government and visited the House of Religions in Bern.
