Vice Foreign Minister Li Baodong Meets with UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon

On July 20, 2016, Vice Foreign Minister Li Baodong met with UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon at UN headquarters in New York.

Li Baodong expressed that at present, the international situation is going through significant changes with increasing global threats and challenges. Against this background, the series of high-level meetings of the 71st session of the UN General Assembly are very important, which will provide a valuable platform for leaders of all countries to discuss major issues concerning world peace and development. China will closely coordinate with the UN to push for positive outcomes from the meetings.

Ban Ki-moon expressed that the UN highly appreciates China's positive role in international affairs and is grateful to China's strong support to the UN's works. He also expects China to make important contribution to the series of high-level meetings of the 71st session of the UN General Assembly.
