The Ninth National Coordinators' Meeting for Cooperation between China and Central and Eastern European Countries Held in Beijing

Vice Foreign Minister and Secretary-General of the Secretariat for China-Central and Eastern European Countries (CEEC) Cooperation Wang Chao attended the ninth National Coordinators' Meeting for Cooperation between China and CEEC held in Beijing on July 11 and delivered a keynote speech. National coordinators, representatives or foreign diplomatic envoys in China of the 16 Central and Eastern European countries were present at the meeting. Representatives of the EU Delegation to China, the Austrian Embassy in China and the Russian Embassy in China attended the meeting as observers.

Vice Foreign Minister Wang Chao expressed that since the Riga summit last year, all parties have participated in the "16+1" cooperation with unprecedented enthusiasm and initiative. So far, over 60 percent of the measures set out in the Riga Guidelines have been implemented. China and the CEEC enjoy frequent high-level exchanges and constantly enhance political mutual trust. CEEC leaders actively attended the Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation, making prominent contributions to the success of the event. Practical cooperation in various fields between China and the CEEC has been advanced steadily, which showcases various highlights. The Budapest-Belgrade railway, Belgrade ring road and other large-scale infrastructure projects are carried forward orderly, the 16+1 financial holding company is well operated, and the preparations for the 16+1 Inter-Bank Association are made smoothly. The year of China-CEEC Media Cooperation has experienced multiple climaxes. The 3rd China-CEEC Health Ministers' Forum was held successfully. The Central East European Traditional Chinese Medicine Education and Research Center has successfully laid foundation in Budapest. The establishments of cooperation platforms in various fields have been constantly improved. The "16+1" cooperation has entered into a key phase of being comprehensively deepened with numerous outcomes.

This year coincides with the 5th anniversary of the establishment of the "16+1"cooperation. China is willing to make joint efforts with the CEEC to actively prepare for the 6th China-CEEC Summit to be held in the second half of 2017, push forward the "16+1" cooperation for continuous and flourishing development, actively and effectively align the "16+1" cooperation with China-Europe relations, the "Belt and Road" construction and development strategies of various countries, and make the "16+1" cooperation platform larger and stronger, so as to better facilitate China-Europe cooperation and better benefit the peoples of the 17 countries.

Representatives from various countries fully exchanged in-depth views on international production capacity cooperation, the "Belt and Road" construction, 16+1 financial cooperation, regional cooperation, people-to-people and cultural exchanges, trilateral cooperation and other topics, and agreed that the "16+1" cooperation enjoys sound development and broad prospects. All parties stand ready to join hands with China and make persistent efforts to comprehensively advance cooperation in various fields and create positive and favorable conditions for the 6th China-CEEC Summit.
