Vice Foreign Minister Zhang Ming Attends Taihe Forum on Protecting the World's Ancient Civilizations

On September 20, 2017, Vice Foreign Minister Zhang Ming attended and addressed the Taihe Forum on Protecting the World's Ancient Civilization held at the Palace Museum.

Zhang Ming said that the ancient civilizations are like bright stars, glittering in the universe, which light the course of human history and make civilizations shine, and also the expectations of people across the globe. The representatives of the ancient civilizations gather here together to discuss the protection of ancient civilizations and the heritage of cultural relics, embodying the responsibility all countries should bear.

Zhang Ming pointed out that the Chinese government always commits to dialogue, exchanges and cooperation among different civilizations, and puts forward the building of the Belt and Road Initiative. Over the past 4 years, the Initiative has gradually taken roots and blossomed, bringing benefits to the countries and people along the route and promoting the people-to-people bonds under the guidance of the concept of extensive consultation, joint construction and shared benefits. China will continue carrying forward the Silk Road spirit, further enhance exchanges and mutual learning as well as practical cooperation with the ancient civilizations, and join hands with all countries for the harmonious co-existence and common development among different civilizations, so as to make unremitting efforts to promote the building of a community of shared future for mankind.

Hosted by the Palace Museum and the Forbidden City Cultural Heritage Conservation Foundation, the Forum this time is to research and discuss the preservation of world ancient cultural relics and promote international exchanges and cooperation in cultural relics. More than 80 government representatives, experts and scholars from over 20 countries and international organizations were present at the Forum.
