China and Russia Hold Consultations on Arms Control and Nonproliferation

On February 21, 2017, Director-General of the Department of Arms Control of the Foreign Ministry Wang Qun and Director of the Department for Non-Proliferation and Arms Control of the Foreign Ministry Mikhail Ulyanov of Russia co-chaired a new round of China-Russia consultations on arms control and nonproliferation in Beijing. Both sides mainly exchanged in-depth views on major issues in international security and arms control, including global strategic stability, cooperation among the five nuclear weapon states, the deliberation process of the Treaty on the Non-proliferation of Nuclear Weapons, anti-missile, outer space, and the Geneva Conference on Disarmament. Both sides agreed to continue to strengthen strategic communication and collaboration and further deepen China-Russia comprehensive strategic partnership of coordination.
