Special Envoy of the Chinese Government on the Middle East Issue Gong Xiaosheng Visits Israel

Special Envoy Gong Xiaosheng meets with Director of Political Affairs Directorate of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Alon Ushpiz of Israel

From October 29 to November 1, 2017, Special Envoy of the Chinese Government on the Middle East Issue Gong Xiaosheng visited Israel, during which he met respectively with Director of Political Affairs Directorate of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Alon Ushpiz of Israel, Deputy Director General for the Middle East and Peace Process Division of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Regev of Israel, Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories for Palestinian Government Affairs of the Defense Forces Major General Yoav Mordechai, Member of Knesset, as well as Chairperson of Hatnuah Party and former Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni, exchanging views on Israel-Palestine issue and the latest development of the situation in the Middle East. Special Envoy Gong Xiaosheng also conducted communication and discussion with Israeli peace activists including Director General of Geneva Initiative Gadi Baltiansky.

During the meeting and discussion, Special Envoy Gong Xiaosheng specially introduced the important outcomes achieved by the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC). Officials and personages from the Israeli side warmly congratulated on the successful convening of the 19th CPC National Congress, and expressed that the Congress not only injects new impetus into China's development, but also will bring profound influence to all countries in the world including Israel. Israel appreciated China for upholding a fair stance on the Middle East issue, and expected China to play a more positive role in regional affairs.
