Top Leader Kim Jong-un of the DPRK Extends Condolences to China over Serious Accident Caused Heavy Casualties Among Chinese Tourists

On the morning of April 23, 2018 local time, top leader Kim Jong-un of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) came to the Chinese Embassy in the DPRK to express deep regret and sorrow over the serious traffic accident occurred in the DPRK on April 22, which resulted in dozens of casualties among Chinese tourists, and expressed profound condolences to the victims. Kim Jong-un also asked Ambassador Li Jinjun to extend his sincere condolences to General Secretary Xi Jinping, the Communist Party of China, the Chinese government, and the casualties as well as their families. Kim Jong-un also made a special trip to the hospital to visit the injured, and expressed that the DPRK side will make all-out efforts to conduct rescue operations and medical treatment and cooperate with the Chinese side in well arranging for the follow-up matters of the accident.

Li Jinjun thanked Kim Jong-un for coming to the Chinese Embassy in the DPRK and the hospital to express his condolences, and thanked leaders of the Workers' Party of Korea and state as well as principals of relevant departments for going to the accident site and the hospital in person to command rescue operations and deal with the accident. He stressed that it fully reflected the high attention paid by the DPRK. China will intensify communication and coordination with the DPRK to do the best in relevant follow-up matters.
