On June 30, 2014, Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with US Ambassador to China Max Baucus, exchanging views on China-US relations and issues of common concern.
Wang Yi said that establishment of a new model of major country relationship between China and the US not only conforms to the fundamental and long-term interests of both sides, but also the common expectation of the international community. Both sides should stick to the general direction of establishing a new model of major country relationship between China and the US, adhere to the principles of no conflicts and no confrontation, mutual respect and win-win cooperation, enhance dialogues and cooperation in bilateral, regional and global issues, and properly handle, manage and control differences, so as to ensure a sound and stable development of China-US relations and make contributions to world peace and prosperity.
Max Baucus expressed that the US-China relations are one of the most important bilateral relations in the world. The policies of the US towards China have not changed and the US will continue to commit itself to forging a new model of major country relationship with China, and to enhancing exchanges and cooperation in various fields and managing and controlling differences constructively on the basis of mutual respect, making sure the continuous development of US-China relations.
