Yang Jiechi Meets with Belarusian Teenager Delegation for Rehabilitation in China

On August 11, 2014, State Councilor Yang Jiechi met at the Great Hall of the People with a Belarusian delegation consisting of 200 teenagers from Chernobyl nuclear disaster area of Belarus who came to China for rehabilitation from August 9 to 17 at the invitation of President Xi Jinping.

Yang Jiechi pointed out that the people-to-people and cultural exchanges are an important part of the China-Belarus comprehensive strategic partnership. The visit of teenagers to China for rehabilitation reflects that the leaders of the two countries care for the growth of the younger generation and pay high attention to cultivating successors of the China-Belarus friendly cause. Hope that both sides could take this opportunity to further expand exchanges so that the China-Belarus friendship could enjoy more popular support.

Head of the rehabilitation delegation Shaplov, on behalf of all the members of the delegation, expressed his gratitude to the invitation of President Xi Jinping and the warm reception of the Chinese side. He said this visit to China will set up a new bridge of friendship between the peoples of Belarus and China.
