Wang Yi Met with Indian Minister of External Affairs Sushma Swaraj

On September 25, 2014, Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Indian Minister of External Affairs Swaraj on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly.

Wang Yi said that the historical visit recently paid by President Xi Jinping to India has enhanced the understanding and friendship between leaders of the two countries and drawn the two peoples even closer to each other. China-India relationship is embracing a crucial period of opportunities. The two sides should follow the strategic plan on the development of bilateral relations laid down by leaders of the two countries, maintain high-level interactions, increase mutual trust, deepen practical cooperation, intensify friendly exchanges between the two peoples, work in concert to build a more closely-knit partnership of development and carry out bilateral strategic partnership in every aspect of life.

Minister Swaraj said that the Indian people welcomed President Xi Jinping' s visit from the bottom of their hearts. The visit, which serves as a boost to practical cooperation between the two countries, has obtained great success. The Indian side highly values the results of the visit and stands ready to coordinate closely with the Chinese side, in a bid to write the new chapter of India-China relations.
