2014/09/27

On September 26, 2014, Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly.

Wang Yi said that high-level visits between China and France have maintained a sound momentum since the beginning of this year, practical cooperation in various fields keeps producing new fruits, and activities celebrating the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between China and France have achieved one climax after another. All these show that China-France relations are operating at a high level. The current international landscape is far from tranquil. China and France, as two permanent members of the UN Security Council and countries of great influence in the world, should step up communication and coordination, work hand in hand and rise up to challenges posed by terrorism, the Ebola epidemic, climate change and other issues, so as to make contributions to peace of the world and well-being of mankind.

Fabius said that France-China relations have made new and major progress this year. Extraordinarily grand activities celebrating the 50th anniversary of the establishment of bilateral relations have achieved full success, demonstrating that the friendship and cooperation between France and China have been deeply rooted among the two peoples. The French side is ready to enhance practical cooperation across the board with China, maintain close coordination on major international and regional issues and constantly advance the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries.
