Vice Foreign Minister Liu Zhenmin Sends China International Search & Rescue Team Off

At 5:00 in the morning of April 26, 2015, the China International Search and Rescue Team (CISAR) dispatched by the Chinese government was ready and waiting for the order to set out at Beijing Capital International Airport. Vice Foreign Minister Liu Zhenmin, on behalf of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, came to the airport to send them off.

Liu Zhenmin expressed that China and Nepal, linked by rivers and mountains, are as close as lips and teeth. On the occurrence of the strong earthquake in Nepal on April 25, the leaders, government and people of China sympathized with the suffering of the Nepalese people. President Xi Jinping, Premier Li Keqiang and Foreign Minister Wang Yi sent messages of condolences to the Nepalese side at the first moment. Furthermore, the Chinese side instantly decided to dispatch the CISAR to Nepal for earthquake relief efforts, which highlighted China’s great attention to China-Nepal relations and the Chinese people’s profound friendship with the Nepalese people. This trip of the CISAR, with lofty mission and tough task, shoulders important responsibility. I hope that all of you live up to high expectations of our country and people, and carry forward the glorious tradition, so as to accomplish the rescue work at an early date and come back safe and victorious.

Nepalese Ambassador to China Mahesh Kumar Maskey, on behalf of the Nepalese government and people, expressed gratitude to the Chinese side for the messages of condolences sent by President Xi Jinping, Premier Li Keqiang and Foreign Minister Wang Yi to Nepal at the first moment, and for the sending of rescue teams by the Chinese side at the first moment. He emphasized those give a full expression to the true Nepal-China friendship in adversity, which the Nepalese people will engrave on their mind forever.
