China-Arab States Expo 2015 Opens Xi Jinping Sends Congratulatory Letter

On September 10, 2015, the China-Arab States Expo 2015 kicked off in Yinchuan, Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region. President Xi Jinping sent a congratulatory letter, extending warm congratulations on the opening of the Expo and warm welcome to foreign leaders and guests attending the Expo.

Xi Jinping said in the congratulatory letter that this Expo takes the theme of "Uphold Silk Road Spirit, Deepen China-Arab States Cooperation", promotes China's exchanges and cooperation with the Arab states and countries in other parts of the world, and bears great significance in deepening the friendship between peoples from both sides and elevating the level of bilateral practical cooperative relationship.

Xi Jinping pointed out that China and the Arab states are good friends with mutual trust and good partners walking hand in hand on the path to realize common development. During the opening ceremony of the sixth ministerial meeting of the China-Arab Cooperation Forum last year, I proposed the initiative that China and the Arab states build the "Belt and Road" together, which received a positive response from the Arab countries. Now cooperation in related fields is being accelerated.

Xi Jinping expressed that China is willing to, upholding the Silk Road Spirit of peace and cooperation, openness and inclusiveness, mutual learning, mutual benefits and win-win results, join efforts with all the countries in the world including the Arab states to facilitate common development and improve the well-being of people around the world.

State Councilor Guo Shengkun attended the opening ceremony of the Expo on behalf of the Chinese government and gave a keynote speech. Guo Shengkun said that the initiative of co-building the "Belt and Road" meets the practical needs of cooperation between China and the Arab states and will open a new door of opportunities for the development of China-Arab relations. At the meeting he made proposals that: China and the Arab states should promote peace dialogue, strengthen policy communication and coordination and further political mutual trust; explore deeply potential for trade growth, optimize trade structure and promote coordinated development of service trade and goods trade; face the demands of industries, expand two-way investment cooperation and enhance cooperation in infrastructure construction and production capacity; adhere to inclusiveness and mutual learning, deepen people-to-people and cultural communication and promote exchanges and sharing between civilizations of China and the Arab states; join hands to continuously consolidate understanding and friendship between Chinese and Arab people and jointly push forward the China-Arab practical cooperation to a new height.

Foreign leaders including King Abdullah II Bin Hussein of Jordan, President Mohamed Ould Abdel Aziz of Mauritania and Vice President Fouad Mohadji of Comoros as well as representatives of relevant international organizations also attended the opening ceremony.

The China-Arab States Expo, co-sponsored by the Ministry of Commerce, the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) and the People's Government of Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, is an important platform for carrying forward practical cooperation between China and the Arab states and enriching the strategic connotation of China-Arab relations.
