Chinese and Swiss Leaders Exchange Congratulatory Letters on 65th Anniversary of the Establishment of Bilateral Diplomatic Relations

On September 14, 2015, President Xi Jinping and President Simonetta Sommaruga of the Swiss Confederation exchanged congratulatory letters on the 65th anniversary of the establishment of bilateral diplomatic relations.

Xi Jinping said in the letter that Switzerland was among the first western countries to establish diplomatic relations with the People's Republic of China. Over the last 65 years since the establishment of the diplomatic relations, the friendship between the two countries has withstood the test of times, and their all-round practical cooperation has yielded fruitful results. China pays high attention to China-Switzerland friendly cooperative relations, and believes that under the joint efforts of both sides, bilateral relations will make greater progress and thus bring more benefits to both countries and peoples.

Simonetta Sommaruga expressed in her letter that Switzerland and China are witnessing an increasingly comprehensive and close partnership and their cooperation is fruitful. Switzerland cherishes bilateral cooperation, hopes to join hands with China to address future challenges and believes that bilateral relations will continue obtaining positive development.
