Xi Jinping Sends Letter Congratulating on the Opening of Beijing Forum on Human Rights 2015

On September 16, 2015, the Beijing Forum on Human Rights 2015 was opened in Beijing. President Xi Jinping sent a congratulatory letter, stressing that making people fully enjoy human rights is a common objective of the human society. We should enhance exchanges and mutual learning among different civilizations and push exchanges and cooperation among all countries thus ensure a better development of human rights cause in all countries.

Xi Jinping pointed out in his congratulatory letter that on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression as well as the World Anti-Fascist War, the Beijing Forum on Human Rights this year is themed with "Peace and Development: the Victory of the World Anti-Fascist War and Human Rights Advancement", which helps all parties deeply reflect on the guarantee of peace and development rights of mankind.

Xi Jinping stressed that the Chinese people, having gone through much suffering in modern times, know very well the great significance of human value, basic human rights and human dignity to social development and progress and double cherish the hard-won peaceful development environment, and will unswervingly pursue a peaceful development path and steadfastly advance human rights cause both in China and the rest of the world.

Xi Jinping pointed out that the Communist Party of China (CPC) and the Chinese government always respect and protect human rights. For a long time, China, by connecting the universality principle of human rights with China's reality, constantly advances social and economic development, improves people's welfare, promotes social fairness and justice, strengthens legal guarantee of human rights and strives for a comprehensive and coordinated development of economic, social and cultural rights as well as civil and political rights. This has significantly elevated the guarantee level of people's existence and development rights and paved a development path for human rights suitable to China's national conditions.

Xi Jinping emphasized that there is no best only better human rights guarantee. The international community should actively push forward global human rights cause, particularly, pay attention to existence and development rights of people in vast developing countries. The Chinese people are striving for the Chinese Dream of great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation, and this will guarantee Chinese people's human rights at a higher level and promote their comprehensive development.

Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Head of the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee Liu Qibao read out President Xi Jinping's congratulatory letter at the opening ceremony and delivered a speech. He expressed that developing economy and improving people's livelihood are the foundation for human rights progress. China is building itself into a country governed by law, pursuing the peaceful development, more vigorously pushing its human rights cause in broader fields, and thus adding positive energy to global human rights progress.

President of the China Society for Human Rights Studies Luo Haocai, Chairman of the China Foundation For Human Rights Development Huang Mengfu, Director of the National Human Rights Centre Akmal Saidov of Uzbekistan and member of the Labor Party and senior Member of the House of Lords Neil Forbes Davidson of the UK delivered speeches at the opening ceremony.

Established in 2008, the Beijing Forum on Human Rights has successfully held seven sessions, becoming an important platform for all countries to carry out human rights exchange and discuss human rights cooperation. People of over 30 countries and regions including officials and scholars attended this year's Forum.
