Li Keqiang Meets with Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc of Vietnam

At noon of November 13, 2017 local time, Premier Li Keqiang met at the hotel where he stayed in Manila with Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc of Vietnam.

Li Keqiang first extended his condolences over the severe Typhoon in southern and central Vietnam. Li Keqiang expressed that China and Vietnam are friendly neighbors and important partners. General Secretary and President Xi Jinping's successful visit to Vietnam lifts bilateral relations to a new phase of sustainable and healthy development. The two countries should accelerate integrating their development strategies and promote the integration of the Belt and Road Initiative and "Two Corridors and One Economic Circle" plan based on the general idea of developing maritime, land and financial cooperation simultaneously, so as to achieve a balance between the increase of bilateral trade volume and the inclusive as well as diversified development, and better achieve mutual benefit and win-win results.

Li Keqiang stressed that developing relations with ASEAN has always been a priority of China's neighborhood diplomacy, adding that China stands ready to deepen the relationship with ASEAN countries and elevate China-ASEAN strategic partnership to a higher level. It is hoped that all the relevant parties can jointly send positive signals of focusing on regional cooperation and safeguarding regional stability at the series of leaders' meetings on East Asia cooperation. China is willing to advance the consultations on the Code of Conduct (COC) in the South China Sea with ASEAN countries in order to make the South China Sea a sea of peace, friendship and cooperation.

Nguyen Xuan Phuc said with the joint efforts of both sides, Vietnam-China comradely and brotherly friendship has achieved positive progress. Vietnam stands ready to constantly and meticulously foster Vietnam-China friendship, deepen bilateral comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership, promote the integration of the bilateral development strategies, and strengthen cooperation in production capacity, transport facilities, cross-border economic cooperation zones, agriculture, finance, and environmental protection and other fields so as to lift bilateral trade relations to a new level. Lauding the agreement reached by China and ASEAN countries on the COC framework, Vietnam is willing to promote maritime cooperation with China and safeguard peace and stability in the South China Sea.
