Sino-African ties withstand test of time: Senegalese FM

2006-07-06

The China-Africa relations have withstood the test of time, said Senegal's Foreign Minister Cheikh Tidiane Gadio.

In an interview with Xinhua News Agency on June 29 (Thursday) night, Gadio said that despite volatile changes in the international situation, the traditional friendly relations and cooperation between Africa and China, built on solid political basis, are bound to develop in the direction of mutual benefit.

Commenting on the China-Africa Summit due to be held in Beijing in November, Gadio said that the African countries are deeply concerned with the significant event, sincerely wishing the historic meeting a success.

Gadio, who was attending an African ministerial meeting at the 7th African Union (AU) summit, said the African countries speak highly of the bilateral friendly relations and cooperation between China and Africa.

During the November Summit in Beijing, a number of important decisions will be announced, and China will expand its aid to infrastructure building in Africa, Gadio said.

He said it is the hope and conviction of African countries that the decisions will be implemented adequately.
